  1. At the risk of sounding negative, I think y’all are spending far too much time over thinking things. Learning the hustle in primary has nothing whatsoever to do with the song or inviting the Spirit into your Primary. The scarves are distracting and make it twice as hard to concentrate on the words. I have known this song for years and still can’t figure out what the heck the emojis are trying to say. Instead of trying to entertain the children, maybe we should spend more time discussing the meaning of the words and simply singing the songs. We aren’t called to put on a dog and pony show. We are called to testify to the children and help them feel the Spirit and gain their own testimonies. Just my two cents.

    • Hey Jenny, I completely respect your opinion. However, creating engaging and meaningful activities that meet the kids at their individual learning styles is proven extremely effective! It may seem like just a big show and distracting, but it actually helps the words and message of the song get deep into their brains and hearts! Just because it wasn’t the way we learned things as a kid (it was all flip charts and try on this silly hat, etc) doesn’t mean that it’s not a valuable way to teach the song. There is purpose in each of those activities in helping the kids use movement, logical thinking, etc to build synapses in their brains.
