How to Play:
This melody chart is really 3-in-1! You can use the charts included below for just the 1st verse, just the 2nd verse, or the combined 3rd verse.
I’ve included the 3rd combined verse first, as I’ve planned this melody chart specifically around that verse, but you can teach whichever verse you prefer. Or use one melody chart one week, then the next a few weeks later, then finally the combined one as a fun review idea later!
Sing through Love is Spoken here verse or full song you plan to teach first, before introducing the melody chart.
Post or point out the melody chart. What do you notice? Do you see any patterns?
Let the kids answer what they see in the melody chart and then sing through the verse again while you check their answers and then talk about the different things you’ve found – repeating patterns, colors, highs and lows, etc.
You can sing small parts of the song acapella to help them hear and visualize the movement of the notes.

Extension Activities:
Break the Primary in 2, 3, or 5 groups. Divide up the colors by a random selection. The groups sing just their colored words. For 5 groups, no one sings the grey words! Use the cards at the end of this printable to help you divide the room.
Personalize the notes! Have the children come up to color in a circle or a block with an image!
Add an action to match one of the colors. Such as stomping for every green word referencing places. For the length and complexity of this song, I’d probably stick to just 1-2 actions for the song.
