Here’s a fun and totally different singing time idea for Mother’s day! In this Mother’s Day Cards for Mom activity, you’ll try to guess a variety of different Primary Songs for Mother’s Day (massive list!) from reading a quote from the song. Use your best silly voice or sing the line with a different melody to make it even harder.
You can sing through a mix of songs and color a card for mom that can be sent home to moms on Mother’s Day for a gift and singing time idea rolled into one.

Singing Time with Song Quotes!
Pick through all the song quote cards and select which ones you’d like to include. Aim to include a mix of songs your Primary already knows or has at least heard before.
Invite a child to come up front and pick one of the song quote cards. They will read (or sing if they’d like) the song quote. The rest of the Primary will try to guess the song title. They can also just start singing part of the song, if they don’t know the title. This is like a game of name that tune but without the tune you’re sharing just a snippet of the song lyrics!
Sing through the song together once it’s correctly guessed!
Continue to work your way through singing a variety of Mother’s Day songs as a tribute to moms!
This would be a great way to help you pick a song to sing be checking how well the kids know the songs or as a fun no-pressure activity on Mother’s Day Sunday.
Extension Activities:
- To up the challenge, read or sing the song with a totally different voice or song style! This will be fun and silly for the kids and make it harder to decode!
- Let the children pick from the Song Quote Cards for Mom. You can print just the song you’re teaching or print a mix of all of the cards below. Invite the children to add color to the front and back page (and their name) and then color a picture for their mom in the inside. Then, fold the paper in half to make a card that the kids can take home to give to their mom!
- Roll a dice to see how many word from the quote you should read! Then, add one more word at a time until they can guess the song title!
- Make it a competition! Divide the room in two groups. Let one side try to guess the song title first. If they get it correct, they get a point. If they don’t, the other side gets a turn to guess. Switch sides each turn. Adding a simple competition like this will help engage your oldest boys in the room to participate and have fun!
