Let’s jump right into teaching I’ll Walk with You in your Primary room with this really fun logic and movement activity your Primary kiddos are going to love!
In this I’ll Walk with You Numbers and Actions lesson plan you’ll swap out several repeating keywords with a number instead and let the children help you decode what’s missing through the song, then replace the number with a simple hand action to add in movement!
I’ll Walk with You Numbers & Actions
How to Play:
Sing through I’ll Walk with You song (flip chart here) once before introducing this activity.
Post the number problems chart on the board. Ask the children if they can help you crack the code today. Some of the words got replaced by numbers!
Ask the children to sing through the song again and see if they can figure out what the number 1 represents. Or, you can start with #2 which is always the word “you” and may be easier.
After singing, ask what the 1’s represented. (Self) What is this song saying about the things you will do? (Help others and be a good friend)
Sing through the song again, this time looking to crack the number 2.
Ask, who figured it out? What does number 2 represent? (You) Who is the “you” that this song is talking about? (Other people, those that need friends, etc) How can we be more kind and loving to other people?
Let’s listen for ways we can be kind to others from the song. Sing through the song again listening for clues (walk with them, talk to them, show them love, etc).
Continue to sing through the song and crack additional numbers and the symbols if you included those as well.

- = You Point to a neighbor
- = People Sweep hand in front of you with palm upward
- = Jesus / He / His ASL sign language for Jesus
Extension Activities:
- Add an action to use for each number, after you’ve solved what each number means.
- Use directed listening to count how many times each number comes up! Focus on one number at a time. Sing out each missing word representing the specific number extra loud to help everyone count along! Hold up your fingers to count dramatically!
