We have so much fun using Ribbon Wands! I’ve shared a few different lesson plans with Ribbon wands on this blog, which I’ll link below, but today it’s all about helping you to create your own sequences and patterns or giving you the flexibility to create a variety of patterns at random with these cute and colorful Ribbon Wand action cards!

Ribbon Wand Lesson Plans
If you have yet to use Ribbon Wands in your Primary, they’re so much fun! Be warned, the kids can get a little rowdy using them, so make sure you have a few teachers or leaders to help keep the kids appropriate during the activities.
Getting started with Ribbon Wands is easy! To help you get an idea of how I use Ribbon Wands during Singing Time, here’s a couple of lesson plans you can use for inspiration!
I got my Ribbon Wands on Amazon! I really love the wrist strap style with a bunch of colors, but there are a lot of different ribbon wand styles to pick from.
Ideas for Using the
Ribbon Wand Action Cards
– Make a sequence of actions to fit a song or story. Follow the actions through the song. For long songs, make a shorter sequence that can easily repeat.
– Mix and match the Ribbon Wand action cards to make a new sequence of actions to try. You can randomly select them before the song or switch every so often at random intervals.
– You might also split into smaller groups and have each group try their own sequence of actions, and then present their version.
Ribbon Wand Action Cards
This version of my printable ribbon wand action cards prints 4-cards per page and includes a contact sheet with all the actions in one printable page. You can print just the single page and use a dry erase marker or print the action cards you plan to use.
This size is great for small Primary groups or for splitting up your room into smaller groups with the teachers or Primary Presidency helping with the small groups. They give lots of flexibility for changing up the actions in the middle of the song!
For those with a big Primary, you may prefer printing the full-page Ribbon Wand action cards. These have just one action per page. This gives you more flexibility to print only the actions you need for your activity, too.
There are 32 total pages of action cards plus a contact sheet with a small version for your reference of all the Ribbon Wand actions — perfect for planning your lessons and coming up with new sequences!
