The Miracle Movement Words
I felt soo excited when I saw that this beautiful song is included in the Come Follow Me New Testament song list for 2027! Even if you taught The Miracle in primary when Shawna Edwards first released it years ago, you may have lots of children in your primary who haven’t learned it yet.
I especially love the imagery in this song and the reminder of miracles, past and present. As you teach this song in primary, try using this movement words activity!
For this activity, we’ll be using simple movements for keywords throughout this song. This activity is great because it really makes you pay attention to the words! Let’s jump right in and I’ll share all the details!

At the beginning of singing time, sing one verse of The Miracle (flip chart here). This idea works great with any verse you are teaching, but I’ll be focusing on the first verse for my examples here.
Are you ready for a challenge? Let’s sing the song again, but this time, listen for words that reference Jesus Christ, like “He, Him, Jesus.” Can you try it with me?
Awesome! Let’s try something different this time. When you hear one of Jesus’ miracles, roll your arms. Did you catch them all?

I find this activity to be most effective when I try one movement at a time, rather than trying to do them all at once right away.
References to others, such as “you” or “yours” only occur in the last verse, so feel free to skip this one if you are only focusing on the first or second verses this week.
Do you think we can try all the challenges together? Tape the movement words poster to the board and see if you can get all the movement words! This may be an especially fun challenge for your older primary children.
Movement Words Key:
Here’s a basic outline of all 4 movement words for this song. Don’t forget to grab the free printable version with visuals to follow during singing time! Also, keep scrolling for a fun video demonstration to practice along with as you prepare for singing time this week!
- Jesus/He/Him = Clap hands
- Miracles = Roll arms
- Me/My/I = Stomp
- You/Yours = Pat knees

Extension Activities:
- Incorporate some socialization by turning some of the movements into partner actions. For example, each time you sing a miracle, trade spots with a partner. Or, high five a partner on references to yourself or others.
- Choose a simple action for each individual miracle. Here are some ideas: Walk in place (“Walked upon the water / “Made the lame to walk”) Uncover and cover your eyes (“The blind to see”), Touch your arms and legs (“Healed the leper”)
- Divide into 4 groups – one for each action. Sing through the song and have each group sing only their assigned movement words Then, switch and try a new set of words/actions!
- Have one side of the room clap each time you sing “Jesus.” Then, point to the other side of the room and have them roll their arms as you sing His miracles.
