12 Choose the Right Way Singing Time Ideas

For fun and easy ways to teach this song, see all of these wonderful Choose the Right Way Singing Time ideas in this post! You’ll quickly be on your way to helping the kids learn this song in Primary!

This is another song pick I have planned way later in the year, in December. I am simplifying our program songs for this year and doing the 1st verse only, to save time for the Primary Program. With that in mind, I’ll have plenty of time to teach my November (Search, Ponder and Pray) and December picks earlier in the year and have them ready for the program!

I began teaching Choose the Right Way in January and will continue learning this song along side other program songs all year long on rotation! See how I plan a year of singing time lessons.

I'll be using this activity during the 2nd week of January, two other easy activities. See my full Singing Time lesson plan for January here! Choose the Right Way Missing Words How to Play: - Post the Missing Words signs. - Sing through Choose the Right Way, asking the kids to pay attention to the chart to see if they can find the missing word(s). You can use first option for Junior with just a single missing word, or do the slightly harder version for both Junior and Senior Primary. - When they’ve discovered the key and found all the missing words, have the kids sing ONLY the missing words. Then sing ONLY the written words, skipping all the symbols. - Add a different action for each of the missing words, such as: Right: Patsch Way: Snap Happy: Double Clap (one for each syllable) Choose: Stomp (Double stomp for “choosing”) Key: _ _ _ _ _ = RIGHT > > > = WAY * * * * * = HAPPY ++++++ = Choosing/Choose Choose the Right Way Missing Words Lesson Plan This Choose the Right Missing Words lesson is a fun and engaging activity that really drives home the keywords of the song! 12 Choose the Right Way Singing Time Ideas Easy ideas for Music Leaders cheating is poisonous

Choose the Right Way Song Story

When I was in first grade, I had a spelling test every Friday. One week I practiced really hard, but I still couldn’t get the word poisonous right.

Sing: There’s a right way to live and be happy; It is choosing the right ev’ry day.

When it was time to take the test, I decided to write the word poisonous on the back of the paper I used to cover my test. I quickly put the paper in my desk so that I wouldn’t be tempted to cheat, but I secretly took it out again when it was almost time for the word poisonous.

Sing: I am learning the teachings of Jesus; They will help me and show me the way.

As I thought about the word poisonous, I had a strong feeling that cheating was poison to my spirit. So I put the paper back in my desk for good! I still didn’t spell the word poisonous right, but I felt great and peaceful inside about not cheating and for choosing the right.

Sing: Choose the right way and be happy. I must always choose the right.
