How to Play:
Today I have a special story to share with you! Invite the children to listen reverently throughout the story. You might even invite the children sit in a circle to make it even more personal.
Begin reading the first paragraph from the story. Bring the story to life by being expressive! You absolutely do not need to read the story word for word. In fact, I encourage you to try to tell it in your own words!
After you talk about Moses in the story, sing the first line of the song. If the children know the song, have them join with you! Then, continue on until you get to the next line of the song.
The story will weave in each line of the second verse. Once you finish the story, sing the chorus. Then, sing through the entire song together using this Choose to Serve the Lord flip chart.

“Alex couldn’t wait to go to school! Earlier that week, his teacher told everyone to bring one item to share with the class. He felt so excited to share his CTR ring and tell his friends all about his baptism!
While he was eating his breakfast, he started to feel nervous and asked, “Mom, some of my friends don’t believe in Jesus. What if they stop being my friend after Show and Tell?”
“It takes a lot of courage to share your testimony,” Mom said. “Do you remember the prophet, Moses? I bet he felt scared too when he helped the children of Israel cross the Red Sea.”
*Sing: “Like Moses, I find courage, for God provides a way.”
Extension Activities:
- Choose a few readers to tell the story. Have them come up and read a paragraph or two. Then, have them lead the group in singing the line that goes along with that part of the story.
- Split the story into word strips and number them in order. Pass out one strip to each class and have one person from each class read their part of the story. Then, have each class sing their line of the song.
- Scramble up the story order! Use the lyrics as clues to piece the story back together.
