This is a fun and symbolic Easter singing time activity that’s perfect to share the story of Jesus’ last week on earth with a hidden symbolic lily!
Can the children Find the Lily and while they are at it follow the path of Jesus from his final events detailed in the scripture? You’ll get in lots of song repetition while being able to share this story in a unique and fun way that will fill like you’re along for a journey with the disciples!

Find the Lily Along Christ’s Path
The lily has deep symbolism tied to Easter! It is believed to have sprouted where the Savior’s blood and tears fell during both the crucifixion and while in the garden of Gethsemane.
Share this beautiful symbolism and hunt for the story of Jesus around the room as you search for a lily!
Begin by explaining the symbolism of a lily. Ask the children if they have ever seen a lily? Do they know what this beautiful flower looks like? Show them the lily card. I highly recommend printing the lily out on cardstock and laminating.

Tell the children today we’re going to hide the lily around the room and remember a few of the different stories from the Savior’s life.
Ask for a volunteer that would like to hunt while you sing. Have them step out of the Primary room. Hide the lily in your first hidden spot. Each spot can be prearranged with some simple decorations or objects that represent each of the stories or you can simply hide the lily wherever you would like in the room.

Welcome your seeker back into the room and sing through your choice of Easter song while they search for the lily. You can use a variety of different songs or review your choice of Easter song. As the child gets closer and closer to the hidden location of the lily, sing louder as a group! If they start to move away, sing quieter.
When they find the lily, they’ll bring it up front with any matching objects and you can share the scripture verse or a little bit about that event before starting a new round to find the lily at his next spot!

Where to Hide the Lily Along Christ’s Path
Hide the lily in any of the locations along the path of Christ’s last week. Here are some examples you might include! After the lily is found, share a little piece of the story.
Triumphal Entry – Bring a couple of palm leaves and tape or staple them to the wall. I’d suggest somewhere near the door. Tuck the lily behind the palm leaf.
The Last Supper – Have a basket with a slice or two of bread and the lily. Wrap them with a towel. You may want to have the lily partially visible so it’s a little easier to find. You might hide this object on a table near the front of the room.
The Garden of Gethsemane – Use any greenery already in your Primary room or ward building, when possible. Hide the lily this time behind an artificial plant or bring your own plant from home! Consider hiding this object close to the pianist.

Trial Before Pilate – Bring in a rubber mallet to represent a judge gavel. Then hide the lily and the gavel somewhere in the room! A good place for this might be up on the chalkboard/white board tray.
The Resurrection – You might include a large flat stone, like a piece of flagstone or something similar, that you can hide the lily under. This would be a good one to hide somewhere on the floor, maybe even under a chair.
