The 2026 Old Testament Come Follow Me Primary Song list was just released, who else is excited to see what songs we will be teaching this upcoming year? I’ll share all the details of the updated song list with you below, plus a printable song list to help you plan for the year.

Old Testament 2022 Song List?
Here’s a great overview to help you analyze what was the same from the last year we taught the Old Testament and what’s new. You’ll notice some brand new songs we’ve never had on a suggested list before along with some favorites that are no longer on the suggested song list.
1. New Songs Added!
The newly updated Old Testament Come Follow Me Song list, updated for 2026 year, now includes these songs that were not included in the previous 2022 year’s list!

2. Some Songs Removed
Some of the songs, that were previously included in the 2022 Old Testament Song list, are no longer recommended songs. I’m sad to lose a few of these as suggested songs as I think they fit the year so well!

3. No More Repeated Songs
The song lists in the past have included several songs that repeated as a suggested for different months of the year. This was first eliminated with the 2024 Book of Mormon song list, but that helped to account for the removal of 3 monthly songs.
The 2022 Old Testament song list had 7 songs that repeated across 2 months:
- Follow the Prophet
- I Feel My Savior’s Love
- Keep the Commandments
Plus these 4 that were previously included twice, but aren’t on this year’s list at all:
- I Know My Father Lives
- I Love to See the Temple
- I Will Walk with Jesus
- When He Comes Again
The 2026 song list includes 24 songs with 2 unique songs for each month.
4. MORE Hymns this Year!
I’m glad to see a few more hymns included in this year’s list compared to last year. The 2022 Old Testament Song list also included 3 hymns, just like this year, but we have some different selections this year.
For a little perspective, this is the hymn count from previous years:

- 2025 Doctrine & Covenants: 1 Hymn – O Little Town of Bethlehem
- 2024 Book of Mormon: 7 Hymns – The Iron Rod, Choose the Right, Have I Done Any Good?, Testimony, As I Search the Holy Scriptures, Home Can Be a Heaven on Earth, and I Believe in Christ.
- 2023 New Testament: 3 Hymns – Come Follow Me, Behold the Great Redeemer Die, and I Know That My Redeemer Lives
- 2022 Old Testament: 3 Hymns – Choose the Right, My Redeemer Lives, We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet
- 2021 Doctrine & Covenants: 7 Hymns – Joseph Smith’s First Prayer, I Stand All Amazed, Have I Done Any Good?, I Know That My Redeemer Lives, The Spirit of God, Praise to the Man, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

Can I Include Other Songs?
Yes, you can select and include other songs, keeping in mind that these songs were prepared and selected by the Church Education Board with much study and consideration. They were selected to correlate with the doctrines taught each month. Here’s the instructions included on using the church provided suggested song list:
From the Instructions for Singing Time:
The Primary presidency and music leader select songs for each month to reinforce principles the children are learning in their classes and at home. A list of songs that reinforce these principles is included in this guide.
As you teach songs to the children, invite them to share what they have already learned about the stories and doctrinal principles the songs teach. Invite the children to share their thoughts and feelings about the truths found in the songs.
The Children’s Songbook is the basic resource for music in Primary. Hymns from the hymnbook and songs from the Friend are also appropriate. The use of any other music in Primary must be approved by the bishopric (see General Handbook, 12.3.4).

Keep one on the back of your Singing Time Binder, use one for scribbling all over to pick your songs, mark off how well the kids are learning them so far, and any other planning!
