For a fun way to introduce, or review He Sent His Son, try out this He Sent His Son My 3 Friends activity!
I love this song because it teaches us the true nature of our Heavenly Father. It teaches us about his love for His children, His willingness to send His son, Jesus Christ, to sacrifice for His children, and His desire for His children to have peace in their lives.
For this activity, I decided it would be fun to bring those three attributes, love, peace and sacrifice, to life!

The idea for this idea is pretty simple, but does include a little bit of prep work on your part. To start, ask 3 willing members of your ward to help out during primary. Some great people to ask might be member of the Bishopric, missionaries, or primary teachers.
Each of these individuals will be representing love, sacrifice, or peace. How to do this? I am planning on writing a short “script” for each individual that tells a little bit about each characteristic. For example, for “love” I might write:
“My name is Love. I am one of Heavenly Father’s greatest tools on this earth. When people are near me, they feel warm and happy. I am the feeling you get when you give a great big hug. I am love.”
For Sacrifice, you might say:
“I am sacrifice. Sometimes it is difficult to be me. I am often asked to set aside the things I want for things that Heavenly Father wants for me. When others are near me, they might experience fear or worry, but ultimately feel the love of Jesus Christ.”
For Peace, you could say:
“My name is Peace. Many people desire to be near to me. You can feel closest to me when you are trying to avoid fighting with others. When you share your toys or make a new friend, you can feel me near. When Christ was on the earth, He was the perfect example of this.”
Pretty simple right?
I have included short scripts for each participant in the FREE printable lesson plan later in this post to make it even easier for you to prep for this activity!
You might choose to also invite your participants hold or wear something that represents their given characteristics. For example, if I was dressing up as “love,” I might wear the color red and wear my favorite heart earrings and hold up a heart.
- Invite 3 individuals to attend primary. Each of these individuals will represent either love, sacrifice, or peace.
- At the beginning of singing time, have each person introduce themselves as their attribute using their short script.
- Ask the children how Christ demonstrates each of these attributes.
- You might also ask the children how they feel when they love others, sacrifice, or create peace.
- After a short discussion, begin teaching He Sent His Son using this flipchart.
Using As a Review Activity
If you have already begun learning He Sent His Son, this activity can also make for a great review lesson! Simply print out the short scripts for love, sacrifice, and peace found in the printable in this post. Split the class into 3 groups. One class is “Love,” one class is “Sacrifice,” and one class is “Peace.”
Have each group read the short description for their attribute and find an object in the room that symbolizes the attribute. You might bring some random items for this. Once they have chosen their items, place each item in a bag.
While singing, randomly pick out an item from the bag. Whichever item is chosen determined which group sings. Take turns singing lines of the song by choosing new items!
- Instead of having each member identify their characteristic, have them give the description and have the children guess what attribute they are!
- If you can’t find any adults to come help with this activity, you can bring an item that represents each attribute instead. For example, you might bring in a framed picture of Christ to represent “sacrifice.”
