Anytime Anywhere Color Code

Don’t you just love this sweet and simple new song Anytime, Anywhere (archives) that was added to our selection of songs? It’s cute and easy and has a great message that is so important for the Primary children to learn!

This Anytime Anywhere Color Code singing time idea is a great way to teach this song and engage all of your logical thinkers (archives). Each color represents a different words or a category of words.

Anytime Anywhere Color Code

Sing through Anytime, Anywhere with this flip chart once, before introducing this activity.

Post the color code chart up on the board. Ask the Primary children what they notice and what patterns they see in the chart.

Some of the patterns they might see could include:

• There are all the colors of the rainbow. Yes! What might each color represent?
• Some words are written out still, but most are covered.
• The yellow and the green always come together in a pair.
• The orange rectangles are all really small.

Talk about some of the things the children notice or simply work to decode the connection of the lyrics to each of the colors in the chart.

Continue to sing through the song several times as you focus on different colors.

Anytime, Anywhere Color Code:

• Red – Godhead (Heavenly Father, He)
• Orange – Self (I, My)
• Yellow – Anytime
• Green – Anywhere
• Blue – Action Words (Cares, Hears)
• Purple – Pray, Prayers

Extension Activities:

• Add an additional challenge for the Senior Primary children – pass around a marker and let the children fill in a missing word. Can they put the word in the correct spot? Let them work on filling in a word while everyone sings. If they don’t find one before the song ends, they can get help from the rest of the children.
• Roll a 6 sided dice and clap instead of the corresponding color. 1 = Red, 2 = Orange, 3 = Yellow, and so on.
• Add an action to represent the colors and build up until you have a bunch of crazy actions in the mix or just pick 1-2 actions and then switch to new actions each time.
