Sing through As I Search the Holy Scriptures (flip chart here) once, before introducing this activity.
Show the picture puzzle for the first line of the song. As the children what they see in the scene. Can they figure out what the picture represents?
After a few guesses, teach the specific line of the song and how the image helps to represent the words. Sing the line then have the kids repeat the line back.
Introduce the next picture puzzle as well with what they notice. Then, teach the line of the song with the symbolism from the picture puzzle. Sing and have the kids repeat the line. Sing the song from the beginning building up the lyrics one line at a time.
Continue to work your way through the song adding another line each time.

Extension Activities:
- Hide the picture puzzles around the room and have the children hunt for one of the puzzles. Then, try to put them in the correct order. Draw four blanks up on the board. Sing through the song to figure out which spot it belongs.
- Cut up picture puzzles into long skinny strips of paper and put all the pieces of the puzzle into an envelope. Pass out one picture puzzle to each group or a single matching puzzle to each group. Have the children unscramble the picture puzzle into order while you sing. Have them raise their hand when they’re done. Then ask them what they see in the puzzle. Sing the matching line of the song!
- Challenge the children to come up with their own pictures or picture puzzles to represent the words of the song. What symbols do they hear mentioned?
