I introduced the 2nd verse of My Heavenly Father Loves Me with these two videos last month and it went over so well. I loved watching the kids completely glued to the screen as they watched children just like them being able to experience sound and color for the first time.
This really brings the lesson of the Primary song My Heavenly Father Loves Me (archives) to your heartstrings and makes it relatable in a way even the youngest children in Primary can feel.

When you’re ready to teach the 2nd verse of My Heavenly Father Loves me, you can make a powerful impact on the kids with this Singing Time lesson plan that shares these two amazing videos that really show how amazing of blessings we have. These are the two videos I chose, but there are tons to pick from if you’re looking for something different, just search YouTube.
First, we talked about the words, “He gave me my ____ that I might ____ the color of _____ _____.”
Each of the pauses were a big dramatic pause that the Primary kids couldn’t help but fill in as it was time to.
I told the kids, did you know that some people can’t see color? The kids chirped up and said yeah – they’re color blind! We talked about what it means to be color blind and I told them I had a really special clip to show them about someone who see’s color for the first time. But first, I want to share some of the other words of the verse.
He gave me my _____ that I might ____ the ______ _____ of things. The kids again were shouting out to fill in the blanks as I paused what I was saying.
I then asked if the kids knew that some kids can’t hear. The replies quickly came, yes they are deaf! Well, technology is really amazing and has made it so that with special implants deaf people can hear for the first time. I have a special video to share with you about that, too.
But before the videos, I want to share the last few words of the song.
He gave me my LIFE, my MIND, my HEART. (Said with emphasis). Why do you think Heavenly Father has given us all these blessings?
I picked a few kids to answer, and then I shared, it’s because He loves us. Do you know that everything he has given us is because He loves us? For all His creations, of which I’m a part. Yes, I know Heavenly Father Loves Me.
I then played the two clips and the kids were enamored watching kids that were just like them. I ended with a simple testimony of the blessings we all have all around us from a loving Heavenly Father.
Since I use a few different songs and ideas each week, this was my closing activity.
