I Pray in Faith Ways to Pray Scriptures
Sing through I Pray in Faith with this Flip Chart once before you introduce this activity. This helps to focus and transition the Primary children from another activity or as signal that Singing Time is beginning.

Ask the children to demonstrate one way that they have prayed before. Many of the children will probably stay sitting in their chairs with their arms folded. Some may stand and fold their arms or kneel to pray. Did you know that the scriptures talk about lots of different ways people have prayed? Let’s learn about some of those ways today!
Invite a child to pick out one of your ways to pray scripture cards. Read the scripture passage outloud. What did you hear in that verse? How did they pray? (Kneeling, bowing, while facing a wall, etc.)

Let’s try that out while we sing through the song. Follow the scripture passage for instructions on how to pray. Continue by picking a variety of different ways to pray scripture cards and learning about different ways people have prayed.
What do you think the most important part of prayer is? What do you think matters most about what way we might pray? Take a variety of answers. Express that Heavenly Father wants us to pray to him always, whenever we can, wherever we are, and in whatever means that is possible as long as we are reverent and respectful as we pray.

Extension Activities:
- Instead of focusing on different ways we can pray with references from the scripture, you can instead or in addition use the 8 additional scriptures on prayer conditions including: Pray always, Pray with Pleading, Pray Aloud, Pray with a Question, Pray in Secret, Study & Pray, Pray through Music, Pray inside Your Heart. Ask the children which of these types of prayer styles they’ve tried? Have they every prayed privately aloud? How about praying inside their heart? Have they studied out a question before praying?

- Combine these scripture passages with our fun yoga poses movement. I created these two activities together so you can do one, the other, or both combined. The various scripture passages helped me to select he variety of yoga movements based on ways different people pray.
- Hide these ways to pray scripture cards inside a quad or Bible and Triple Combination. Let a child flip through the scriptures to learn about different ways the scriptures teach that people have prayed over time. This is a great way to get the kids in the scriptures! You can tuck each way in by its scripture reference and then for ease, read the card.
