I Pray in Faith Prayer Yoga
Sing through I Pray in Faith using this Flip Chart to help the children focus and refresh their memory of the song lyrics before adding in this fun and purposeful movement as you try out some unique prayer inspired yoga poses.
Show me what it looks like to pray? How do you pray? Most children will probably simply fold their arms or clasps their hands together. Some may stand or kneel.

Do you remember what the first line of the song says? “I kneel to pray…” Let’s try kneeling together while we sing the song. Sing through the first verse while kneeling.
Did you know that people pray in different ways? We’ll try a few different fun yoga moves to represent different ways we can pray, along with some fun yoga poses worked in, too. You’ve already learned the first one! We will kneel for the first line.
Let’s try this one next – stand and raise your arms in praise. Sing through that line of the song with everyone mimicking your yoga pose.

For the next line, let’s squat down low and clasp our hands together. Sing through the third line of the song while you move to a half squat prayer pose.
One more move – let’s bow our head down low to the ground as we sing the final line of the song.
Now, sing from the very beginning with all four yoga poses in order.
Invite each class to come up front, each in turn, to help lead the yoga poses as you sing through the song several more times.
Extension Activities:
- Combine these yoga poses with our Ways to Pray Scriptures activity for specific scriptures to match these yoga poses! Share how different people and different cultures may pray differently. The important thing is to pray with reverence and respect.

- Instead, use just a single yoga pose each time you sing through the song. After 4 times through the song, combined them all into the original order with one yoga pose per line of the song.
- Rearrange the prayer yoga poses and let the children pick which 4 poses to use. Make a new pattern each time you sing through for a variety of fun movements and poses to try.
