I Stand All Amazed Word Map
Sing through I Stand All Amazed (flip chart) once, before beginning this activity.
Ask the children, who is this song about? (Jesus / The Savior!) Yes! It’s all about the ways that Jesus has shown love for us. Put the picture of the Savior up on the board.
Let’s sing through the song again and try to listen and see if you hear ways he shows love or things he has done for us!
Ask the children after singing through the song again what they heard from the song lyrics. Draw a line away from the Savior and start adding some of the symbols from the printable:
1st Verse: Love (Heart), Grace (Word “Grace”), Crucified (Cross), Died (Tomb)
Your word map should look like the Savior in the center and all these different symbols branching off of him.
At the end of the lesson, ask the children to think about which of these ways do they feel the love of the Savior?
Share your testimony at the end of the lesson with one way that you have personally felt the love of the Savior. What aspect of His life leaves you standing in amazement at the gift He offers? Share that with the children and how it affects you personally.
Extension Activities:
- Hide the pictures for the word map around the room. Invite a Primary child to hunt for one of the symbols. What line of the song might relate to this symbol? You can also simply scramble the symbols all over the board and try to put them in order (left to right) underneath the picture of the Savior as they go in order of the song.
- Ask the children to add additional images – their own drawings – of ways that the Savior’s life has impacted their own life. What is something that He has done for them? Add them to your word map!
