Did Jesus Really Live Again Word Map
I love the sweet words of this primary song. It has always been one of my favorites because I can really visualize what it might have been like to be there when Jesus was resurrected.
I created this word map to help my primary kids learn more about the Resurrection while singing this song. I enjoyed looking for images on the Church’s media library that represented different parts of the song.
I also grabbed some symbols and words to add to the word map as well. I enjoy having a combination of words and pictures to help both younger and older primary kids to engage in the activity.
Before primary, print out pictures and words that symbolize “Resurrection.” We have a printable later in this post that contains 12 different words/pictures to add to your word map!
At the beginning of singing time, review Did Jesus Really Live Again with this flipchart.
Then, put the word “Resurrection” on the board in big letters or post the first page of the printable containing a large oval with the word “Resurrection” written inside.
Ask the children what it means to be resurrected. You can reference the song if they are unsure. Explain that when we die, our spirits leave our bodies for a short period of time. Someday, our bodies will be rejoined with our spirits and become perfected.
Then, sing the first verse of the song again. Use one of the connecting lines to connect a picture of Christ to the word “Resurrection.” This represents the first line of the song that says, “Did Jesus Really Live Again?”
Then, find the symbol or picture that best describes the next line of the song. Continue singing and adding words/pictures to the map.
At the end of singing time, explain that Jesus Christ’s Resurrection brings hope to us that we will be able to be resurrected too. Then, put the word “Hope” on the map. There are a few symbols like this that are added to help better understand the resurrection but aren’t necessarily in the song.
This activity can be used as a way to introduce this song in primary or as a review activity. If using as an introduction lesson, put the pictures that best represent the phrase or line of the song you are teaching. Once you get through the entire song, the word map should be complete!
Share your testimony of Jesus Christ at the end of singing time.
Extension Activities:
- Do the activity in reverse! Start with the word “Resurrection” in the middle. Put all the pictures and words on the board in mixed up order at the beginning of primary. As you sing, have the children put the next symbol/picture on the board until all the pictures are on the board.
- Start with all the pictures on the board and see if the children can guess what word goes in the middle. Then, start reviewing the song!
- On the back of each picture/word, write a scripture that teaches about Jesus. You could also add different ways to sing the song!
