Jesus Said Love Everyone Action Words
Do you ever find yourself in a rut with singing time ideas? I love exploring new ways to keep my primary children engaged during singing time. One of the awesome parts about being an INSTANT Primary Singing member is that you get access to SO many different ideas!
However, I also know that it can feel a little overwhelming feeling like you need to put on a big production every single Sunday. That’s why I love tried-and-true activities like this action words idea!
For a simple way to teach this song in primary, use hand actions! I’ve created a pattern with one action for each line of this song. Let’s jump in and I’ll share them with you!
At the beginning of singing time, ask the children if they remember the two greatest commandments Jesus taught.
That’s right! Jesus taught us to love God and love others. We’re going to learn a song about loving others. Does anyone know the song, “Jesus Said Love Everyone?”
If anyone recognizes the song, ask them to say or sing the first line! Then, demonstrate the first action by making a heart with your hands. Curl each hand into a “C” shape and bring your hands together. Sing, “Jesus said love ev’ryone.”
Then, bring your palms out front like you are giving an object to someone. When we share with others, we are being kind! Sing, “Treat them kindly too.” Does anyone recognize this song? Can you sing it with me?
Once you’ve taught the first two hand actions, sing through the first two lines together. This is a great way to break the song into chunks for your primary kids.
Then, teach the last two actions by extending your arms out wide as you sing, “when your heart is filled with love.” Lastly, wrap yourself in a big hug as you sing, “Others will love you.”
That’s it’s! Just 4 actions! Let’s try singing the entire song. At this point, I recommend putting up the lyrics to follow along with as you sing. You can grab a copy of our flip chart for this song with lyrics and some cute visuals.
Action Words:
- Heart Hands – “Jesus said love ev’ryone”
To make heart hands, curl both hands into a sideways “C” shape and put them together.
- Giving Hands – “Treat them kindly too”
For this action, hold your palms facing upward and extend your arms like you are sharing something.
- Outstretched Hands – “When your heart is filled with love”
Stretch your arms out wide to show how big we can fill our hearts with love!
- Hugging Hands – “Others will love you”
For hugging hands, bring both arms in and wrap yourself in a big hug.
Extension Activities:
- Split the class into 4 groups. Assign each group one action/line from the song. Have each group sing their line and do
- their action for a fun “popcorn” style singing. Then, rotate to a new action each time you repeat.
- Play a game of 4 corners! Tape a piece of paper with one line of the song in each corner of the room. Have the children choose one corner to start in. Have them sing their assigned line, then move to a new corner.
