Dive into teaching My Dad (archives) as this fun Father’s Day song the kids will love with this My Dad Hand Bell Chart. Using hand bells is such a fun activity that adds in so much interaction. Everyone will want to take a turn with the bells which gives you a ton of built in song repetition.

My Dad Hand Bell Chart
Sing through My Dad (flip chart here) once, before introducing this activity. This will help you transition from another activity or bring everyone together and review the words before adding the hand bells.
Invite 8 or 10 children to come up to help you with the bell chart, depending on which bell chart you use and if you have the extended bell set. Hand each child a bell and help them recognize when one is theirs and when they should ring their bell.

Sing through My Dad while your helpers play along following the hand bell chart. The notes and words are colored coded to help them easily see when to play the notes.

Switch up your note players and sing again until everyone has had a turn with the bells. In a smaller Primary, you can let them switch their bell instead.

Extension Activities:
- In a smaller Primary, you can have each of your helpers hold two bells. I would recommend these pairs:
- C and B
- E and A
- D and G
- High C and F
- Plus the extended bells: Low-B and F#
- Pick a specific color to SKIP singing. Can you skip singing all the A – Dark Blue notes and words, for example? Try clapping instead of singing for those notes. Then try it again with a new note!
- Consider playing the hand bells during your performance as you sing this song on Father’s Day! Try singing with your best performance!
