Our Time to Shine Pipe Chimes
Sing through Our Time to Shine with this flip chart once, before introducing this activity.
Invite 2 helpers to come up front to chime your 3 (Middle C) and 8 (E) chimes as you sing each of the hero names. Sing through the song again as they chime for each hero!
I got my pipe chimes from Musical Pipes on Etsy, and they are great!
Now, switch up your helpers and this time invite 3 helpers up. Hand them the 3 (Middle C), 8 (E) and 12 (A) pipe chimes. This time, you’ll chime for heroes and add rhyming keywords with the additional chime. Sing through the song again as you listen for those chimes.
Thank your helpers, that was wonderful, you’re so good at this. Continue to rotate through different helpers as you play your chimes on the keywords.
If your group is ready for a challenge, call up a bunch of helpers to play the following pipe chimes and work through the entire song chime chart!
- 3 – Middle C (5 notes)
- 5 – D (9 notes)
- 7 – E (10 notes)
- 8 – F (22 notes)
- 10 – G (19 notes)
- 12 – A (17 notes)
- 13 – A# (10 notes)
- 15 – High C (7 notes)
- 17 – High D (2 notes)
After a few times through the pipe chimes pattern, invite everyone to stand and sing through the song and use the chimes with their best performance-ready voices and standing tall and strong like these scripture heroes!
Extension Activities:
- You can swap out pipe chimes for hand bells.
- Invite the rest of the Primary room to pat their lap for the hero names with 2 or 3 pats following the melody and notes. Have them clap on all the blue keywords (stand, might, light, faith, right, fight). Alternatively, they can stand and quickly return to sitting on each of these keywords including the heroes.
