Redeemer of Israel (archives) is a pretty wordy hymn, and may not be the easiest song to teach in Primary. That being said, the kids always love it when a hymn comes up that they’ve learned in Singing Time!
Pick a favorite verse or two and use this Redeemer of Israel flip chart to teach it and the kids will love trying out something a bit different than the Children’s Songbook songs.
Redeemer of Israel is one of the suggested songs as part of the Old Testament Come Follow Me for Primary song list.
I like to try to include each of those songs at least once during the year, even if we just use it as an opening song or along with a quick activity tie to the Come Follow Me message one week.

Redeemer of Israel Lyrics
This song is published in the LDS green Hymn book Page #6
The first 4 verses are standard with two additional verses also published.
You can find the Redeemer of Israel sheet music here.
Verse 1:
Redeemer of Israel, our only delight,
On whom for a blessing we call,
Our shadow by day and our pillar by night,
Our King our Deliv’rer, our all!
Verse 2:
We know he is coming to gather his sheep
And lead them to Zion in love,
For why in the valley of death should they weep
Or in the lone wilderness rove?
Verse 3:
How long we have wandered as strangers in sin
And cried in the desert for thee!
Our foes have rejoiced when our sorrows they’ve seen,
But Israel will shortly be free.
Verse 4:
As children of Zion, good tidings for us.
The tokens already appear.
Fear not, and be just, for the kingdom is ours.
The hour of redemption is near.
Verse 5:
Restore, my dear Savior, the light of thy face;
Thy soul-cheering comfort impart;
And let the sweet longings for
Thy holy place bring hope to my desolate heart.
Verse 6:
He looks! And ten thousands of angels rejoice,
And myriads wait for his word;
He speaks! And eternity, filled with his voice,
Re-echoes the praise of the Lord.
