I Will Walk with Jesus What’s Next
I am so excited to teach I Will Walk With Jesus this year in primary. This song teaches us how we can follow Jesus and become like Him. The words are so powerful, so I want to make sure my primary kiddos really learn the message and power behind these words.
Word games in Primary are a great way to help children practice lyrics because they make long phrases much easier to tackle. When children have to guess what comes next in a phrase, they are more likely to remember the whole phrase next time they sing it.
I used this Away in a Manger Guess What’s Next game during Christmas time last year and my primary kiddos absolutely loved it! You can check out the details for this word game for more ideas to extend this activity!

I Will Walk With Jesus What’s Next Singing Time Review Game
I am so excited to bring this review game back to primary! This review game is pretty similar to a fill-in-the-blank activity. Start by writing or typing out the words to this song in short phrases.
Leave out a word in each phrase and have the kids guess what’s next!
There are lots of ways to play this game, so I’ll start with the basics and provide you with additional ways to play!
Activity Instructions:
- Print out the lyrics to I Will Walk With Jesus and cut out strips of paper with short phrases of the song.
- Leave out one word in each phrase. The word can be at the beginning, middle, or end of the phrase.
- Start by reviewing the words to this song using this I Will Walk with Jesus flipchart.
- Put one phrase on the board at a time. While singing, have children come up and fill in the missing words.
- Continue filling in the blanks while you review this song!
Alternative Ways to Play:
Class Competition: For this version of the activity, split the class into two groups. Place two buzzers across from each other on a table. Have one child from each team come to the front to answer the question. Read one phrase aloud and see which child can fill in the blank first! The fastest team gets a point.
Time’s Up: For this version, place 10-12 strips of paper on the board at the same time. While you sing, invite the children to come up and fill in the blanks as fast as they can! See how many phrases you can finish before the song is over!
Group Play: Divide the strips of paper evenly between all classes. While you sing, have each class fill out their phrases. The next time you sing, have the classes ONLY sing the phrases they have.
Match the Pictures: This version is best for Junior primary. Choose pictures that match the missing words and have the children match the picture to the missing word and fill in the blank!
