Bring in fun colorful firework illustrations for a lovely themed 4th of July singing time! You can pick a firework and sing a choice of song or a holiday themed song, just whatever it is your Primary group needs. I like to include a few patriotic songs as many children are out of town the weekend of the 4th of July, but you can do whatever you need for your time available.
I’ve paired these fireworks with different patriotic songs from the Children’s Songbook and Hymn book, but you can see more 4th of July Primary Songs ideas in this master list!

4th of July Firework Songs
Place the firework cards all over the board up front.
Invite a child to come up and pick their favorite firework. You can also invite them to share something they love about living in the United States if you’d like.
Then, sing through a song that coordinates with a numbered list of songs you’ve preselected and have given to your pianist or sing through the Patriotic song listed. You can choose to just review your program songs or have a Sunday full of patriotic songs, whatever works best for your needs.
Continue to pick out fireworks and sing through the corresponding song selection!
Extension Activities:
Hidden fireworks: Hide the fireworks around the room and go on a hunt for the next firework while you sing. Then, sing through the related song.
Firework Ways to Sing: Review a single song or two of your choice and pick out a variety of ways to sing to represent the numbers and fireworks! They’ll pick the way to sing instead of picking out which song to sing.
Match the Fireworks: Print out two copies of each of the firework illustrations. Then, play a classic game of match. When they find a match, sing that song!
Firework Chairs: Hide fireworks under the children’s chairs. Start at one seat in the front row and work your way down the row letting the children check one at a time if there is a firework under their chair. If so – they get to put the firework up on the board and get to help you lead. Or invite them to pick a favorite song to sing!
