Take a deeper dive into the scripture stories shared in this sweet Old Testament primary song for a fun way to review the lyrics! This idea draws from the classic game of “memory.” Your older primary children will especially enjoy the challenge this activity brings!
For this activity, I’ve created a simple matching game with 8 sets of scripture cards. Each set of cards has one card with the name of a person in the scriptures and a card with a blessing they received from God as described in the song.
Your job will be to correctly match each set of cards as you review this song in primary! Are you up for the challenge?
How to Play:
You’ll want to do a little bit of prep work beforehand and cut out all the matching cards. Scramble them up and use magnets or tape to arrange them in a grid.
Start by singing through God’s Love (flip chart) once before introducing this activity. Then, explain that this song teaches us how Heavenly Father blessed many people in the scriptures. Each blessing was unique to their individual needs. Let’s see if we can match each name to the right blessing.
Pick a volunteer to come up and turn over two cards. Read both cards. Do they match? Hint: If you print in color, each set will also be highlighted the same color.
If the name and blessing match, take the match off the board. If not, pick a new helper to turn over two more cards.
For an easy way to get in lots of song practice, pause after every match to sing through the song again. Way to go! Don’t forget to share a brief testimony at the end. It is easy to forget this step, but it is so important that we share our testimonies with our primary children!

Extension Activities:

- Each time someone makes a match, have them keep the name card. Then, when you sing their name in the song, have the child jump up and shout the name while holding up the card.
- Take this challenge one step further and show one name at a time. Can you remember how Heavenly Father blessed this person? Choose a helper to quickly recall the story before you reveal the blessing.
- Simplify this activity by focusing on just one verse and printing out only the cards needed for the verse you choose to practice.
- Choose a fun way to sing each time you complete a card set. Write silly actions on strips of paper and pull one out when you make a match!
