I love teaching quick and easy upbeat songs, like this fun Dare to Do Right Primary Song (archives). It’s one of the suggested songs to teach as part of the Book of Mormon Songs for Come Follow Me in November. So if you’re looking for a little change of pace from your Christmas songs, this might be it!
With this Dare to Do Right Body Rhythm singing time activity you’ll work through a series of different fun and easy movements that match the feeling of the melody and go right along with the lyrics making it quick and easy to learn.

Dare to Do Right Body Rhythm
Sing through Dare to Do Right lyrics once, before introducing this pattern. It’s a great way to transition from a different activity or remind the children of the lyrics before adding in movement.
Introduce the pattern for the first two lines – “Dare to do right! Dare to be true” which goes pat-pat-pat on the first 3 words and then a clap on right, repeat for the second line clapping on true. Sing through the song together with the pat’s and claps for the first two and end of the song.
Next, start at the beginning and add alternating pats for the 3 and 5th lines of the song “You have a work that no other can do” and “Angels will hasten the story to tell.” You’ll just pat your right leg, then left, then right, continuing with one pat per word. Sing through the song again from the beginning with the actions so far.
Finally, add rolling arms, pointing, and stomp actions! You’ll roll your arms one around the other as you sing “Do it so” and then point left on “bravely”, upward on “so kindly”, and to the right on “so well.” Add two stomps for the extra dares on the chorus line – stomp-stomp then repeat your starting pattern.
