Every Star is Different What Comes Next
For a fun way to review Every Star is Different (all posts), play this fun word game in singing time! I’ve created a simple printable with missing word phrases for the first verse and chorus of this cute song.
The basic idea behind this activity is to use the clues to figure out which word comes next! This is a great way to see how well your primary kids know the lyrics! Let’s jump in!
Start by singing through the first verse and chorus of this song at the beginning of singing time. I find this to be a super helpful way to get everyone on board and ready to sing! Using visuals, like our Every Star is Different flip chart, can also help get their attention!
Then, post the first page of missing word phrases on the board. What do all these lines mean? What about the dots? Do these emojis give any clues?
Have the kids look at the missing word phrases as you sing through the song again. Do you have any guesses? Have the kids try to guess what each part of the missing word phrase means. Then, once they’ve figured out that the dots represent words in the phrase, see if they can guess what comes next!
Choose a volunteer to come up and fill in a missing word blank. Then, have them choose the next person to fill in a blank! Once you’ve solved all the missing word blanks on one page, sing through those 4 phrases!
Tape up the rest of the missing word blanks and have the kids come up one at a time to fill in missing words as you review this song! I always like to conclude any activity be singing through the entire song once more and sharing a simple testimony. Singing time is such a wonderful way to teach gospel principles in a fun & engaging way!
Missing Word Examples:
Here are just a few examples of the missing word phrases for this song! Each dot represents one word in the phrase. Some words have been replaced by emojis to give an extra little hint!
The most challenging phrases will likely be the ones with just dots! To make it a bit easier, I recommend keeping the phrases in order to help your primary kiddos figure out the missing words!

Extension Activities:
- For an extra challenge, cut out each phrase into word strips. Tape all the word strips on the board and have the kids solve as you sing! Watch out for phrases that look identical! There may be more than one correct answer for these.
- Divide word strips into envelopes for each class. Have each class find the missing word and sing only their phrases for a fun “popcorn” effect.
- Rearrange the word strips in the correct order! For a simplified version of this, mix up the pages and have the children put the pages in the correct order instead of each individual phrase.
- Clap instead! Each time you get to one of the missing words, clap instead of sing! Choose other fun sounds to try, like snapping your fingers, patting your knees, or clicking your tongue! What other silly sounds can you make?
