Are you looking for an easy, fun, no-prep Halloween Singing Time idea? You’ll love this Halloween Bucket Toss game!
My oldest son recently got his very first job and is working at McDonald’s. He loves it for the free food, I love it for the free props! I was SO excited for their adorable Halloween Happy Meal Buckets! They just released them yesterday (October 18th).
There are 3 cute themed buckets in the series – a pumpkin, witch, and ghost. His McDonald’s only had the pumpkin bucket in stock, but I’m hoping to pick up the other two as well.
Whether you pick up McDonald’s Happy Meal Buckets, or just use dollar store Trick or Treat buckets, this game will be a hit!

Halloween Bucket Toss Singing Time
Supplies:
- Trick or Treat Buckets
- Eyeball Ping Pong Balls

Pick out specific songs you want to sing through this week. You could use all of your Program songs, pick 2-3 songs that need more repetition, or even just work on one song and work on the different specific verses.
You’ll want one bucket for each song. Choose different colored buckets and then you don’t even need to label! Just write down your song titles on the white board in a matching colored whiteboard marker or simply on a piece of paper for you and the pianist.

Have a child come up and give them 3 chances to try to bounce the ping pong ball on the table and have it land in any of your buckets.
Whichever bucket it lands on is the song (or verse) to sing!
If they miss, encourage them that they can try again after singing time, but let’s give another friend a chance.
I thought this cute looped video I captured of totally missing turned out really cute! So remind them that we all miss sometimes, and we’re thankful Heavenly Father gives us many chances to try again.

You can also include a bowl full of fun Halloween ways to sing! I included a list of ideas in my Trick Treat or Sing activity that can be repurposed for this lesson! You can even mash the two ideas together and use the cards as an activity to do between each song.

To tie in the theme, I made three adorable signs!
- Let me pick a PUMPKIN to help me
- WITCH song shall we sing
- BOO you want to sing silly
Post them on the board to play up your theme and then get to singing!

Alternate Ideas:
- Have two sets of buckets to bounce into and let 2 helpers come up and compete. Tally points for which side of the room gets their ball in first! Senior Primary thrives on competition! One bucket for song choice and one for silly ways to sing choices.
- Use bean bags and simply toss them into the bucket as an easier alternative for Junior Primary children.
- Write song names on the eyeballs. Fill the bucket with a gross textured item – like maybe jello or cooked spaghetti or something simple and like dry rice or beans. Have the children dig through the gross bucket to draw out a ball and sing the song written!
