You’re right, and there’s lots of ways we can show love to others through service! Today I need your help to fill in some simple picture scenes that match the song.

Show the first picture and sing through the first line of the song. Ask the children what is missing from the scene? Invite 1-2 children to come up front and fill in the missing parts of the picture.

There’s a task listed at the bottom of the picture that can help them know what to do for each picture page.

Sing through the first line of the song a couple of times until you’re helpers are finished drawing in the scene.

Move on to the next picture sing and add addition lines of the song to go with each of the pictures until you make your way to the end of the song, building up a few lines at a time! This will give you tons of singing repetition with a fun challenge that reinforces the meaning of the lyrics.

Invite the children to look for ways around them that they can help other people this week. They can draw a picture of something they did to show love to others and bring it back the following week and you post them all over the board!

Extension Activities:

  • Put all of the picture scenes on the board and invite a child to pick one scene to work on while you sing through the song from the beginning to the end. Continue with a new helper and add on to the scenes!
  • Add an action to correspond with each completed drawing. That might be a clap/pat action for the world to represent the water and land or it could be plugging your nose and pretending to go underwater! Let the kids help you come up with unique actions that will match each drawing you complete to sing along with each part of the song.
