Holy Places Song Quiz
I am thrilled to see that this song is included in the 2026 Old Testament Come Follow Me Song List. It is always so fun to see which songs are included each year, especially as the new hymnbook rolls out!
As you teach this lovely song about standing in holy places, ask your primary children questions about the lyrics with this song quiz idea! This is a great way to deepen their understanding of the message of this song while also seeing how well they know the lyrics.
For this activity, I’ll be focusing specifically on the first verse. You can absolutely adapt this activity with questions about additional verses as well if you are teaching all 3 verses.
I’ve created 8 questions that come from the first verse. All the answers to these questions come directly from the lyrics. It’s possible that your primary children may have different answers, but you’ll want to guide them to the lyrics to focus on this song.

Before introducing this song quiz, review the first verse of Holy Places. You will love our Holy Places flip chart that includes colorful lyrics and images to help your primary children follow along with the words.
Then, tell the kids that you have a special challenge for them! Are you ready to see how well you know the song? Choose a volunteer to come up and read the first question. Fill in the blank: “The temple is a ______ place.” Do you know which word is missing?

See if your volunteer knows the answer. If they need some help, look for someone raising their hand to answer the question. That’s right- The temple is a holy place!
Who else wants to give it a try? Take turns alternating between singing and answering questions from the song. Be sure to keep a copy of the answer key to check your work as you go!
If you are stumped and need an extra clue, try singing a specific line of the song to find the answer! Remember that all the answers can be found directly in the lyrics, so pay close attention each time you sing.

Song Quiz Questions:
I’ve included 4 quiz questions for the first verse below. Be sure to grab the printable version for colorful question posters to use along with this activity.

Extension Activities:
- Turn this activity into a game-show style singing time! Create two teams. Have one person from each team come to the front of the room. Read aloud a question, and have your volunteers raise their hand to answer the question first. Award points as you go! See this Away in a Manger Guess What’s Next activity for an example!
- Divide the questions between 2-3 envelopes. Give each class a few questions to answer. This is a great way to adapt this activity for time!
- Tape the questions around the room. Each time you sing through the song, have someone choose a question to read to the class.
- Write a silly way to sing on the back of each question card! Each time you answer a question, sing a few lines or the entire song. Here are some ideas to spark your creativity: Girls Only, Boys Only, Teachers Sing, Sing like a pirate, Plug your nose, etc.
