I Stand All Amazed Picture Puzzle
Your primary children will love solving this puzzle of Christ together during singing time! This activity is a neat way to help the children remember the message of this song in a fun way.
For this activity, you get to make your own puzzle! I’ve created a few different pictures of Christ for puzzle options. To create your puzzle, simply cut the picture into as many pieces as you’d like. I recommend starting with square-shaped pieces unless you want to make it even more challenging!
The difficulty level of the puzzle depends entirely on how many pieces the puzzle has. If you want to make a puzzle more challenging for your Senior primary children, cut it into more pieces! If you have lots of Junior primary children, stick with a 4-6 piece puzzle.

Before primary, cut out the puzzle pieces and place them in a large envelope for safe keeping. There’s nothing worse than missing a puzzle piece! 😉
Sing through one verse of the I Stand All Amazed with this flip chart at the beginning of singing time, then bring out your puzzle pieces and arrange them randomly on the board. Let’s see if we can solve this puzzle before the end of singing time!

Tell the children to reverently raise their hand if they think they know where a piece goes. Then, simply sing through the song as you have the children take turns putting pieces of the puzzle together.
Who is in this picture? What are some amazing things Jesus has done for us? You might even consider looking through the lyrics for some answers! Once the puzzle is finished, share your testimony of the Savior.

Picture Puzzles:
What I love about this activity is that YOU get to create your own puzzle of the Savior! Whether you want to keep things simple or challenge your older primary children, these puzzles will be the perfect fit!
I’ve included 3 different pictures to choose from, each with a special tie to this song. Simply cut out the puzzle into as many pieces as you want! Feel free to use my difficulty reference guide below.
- Portrait of the Savior – I chose to include a simple portrait of the Savior for one of the puzzle options to give an opportunity to ponder the character of Christ.
- Christ and Children – I though a picture of Christ with little children would resonate with your primary kids. Christ sacrificed because He loves each of us so much!
- Resurrected Savior – Christ’s mission would have been incomplete without His resurrection. Use this image to help the children think about the resurrected Savior.

Levels of Difficulty:
Here’s my quick guide for levels of difficulty when it comes to puzzles in primary! Although some of your older primary children might definitely be able to handle a puzzle with even more pieces, these puzzle sizes provide plenty of time to be able to finish at least one puzzle during singing time, if not more!
- Easy: 4-6 pieces
- Medium: 7-9 pieces
- Difficult: 10-12 pieces

Extension Activities:
- Give each class their own puzzle to work on while you sing. You can either choose to give everyone the same puzzle or give different puzzles to each class.
- Hide the puzzle pieces around the room! Each time you sing through the song, choose 2-3 children to bring up a piece of the puzzle.
- Write a scripture about the Savior on the back of each puzzle piece. Read about the Savior as you sing together!
- If you’d like to incorporate some movement, write a simple action on the back of each puzzle piece. Each time you add a piece to the puzzle, sing through a line or two with the action you chose. Then, try a new action and keep singing! Here are some ideas: roll arms, pat knees, tap toes, kick feet, snap fingers, etc.
