Mother’s Day Taking Care of Baby
Print and cutout the taking care of baby printable and accessories. Put them around the sides of the board with your baby in the middle.
Tell the children today you’ll need help taking care of baby, just like moms (and dads) do when they have a new baby.
Start with the first task – we need to name our baby! Come up with a name together and write the baby’s name up on the board. Then sing through your song.
Next, invite a child to pick out an outfit for the baby to wear. Then sing through the song.
What should we help baby with next? Let a child pick something that the baby might need – such as a diaper change, bottle, read them a book, etc.
Continue to pick out different items to help take care of baby between each time through the song. Don’t forget to feed, comfort, clean, and entertain the baby!
Invite the children to thank their parents for taking care of them as a baby – it’s a lot of work! Heavenly Father blessed us with parents to help take care of us and to help us better understand how much Heavenly Father does to take care of us, too.

Extension Activities:
- You can add the optional ways to sing cards to help you pick which task baby needs done next. Just randomly draw one of the cards or let your helper pick an object and match it with the ways to sing actions. Can you stack a few of the different actions together at the same time? It will make funny combinations and be a good representation of a multi-tasking mom having to take care of all the things for a new baby.
- Hide the different things your baby will need around the room. Invite a child to find something that the baby might need. You can challenge them to find a specific object to make the hunt more difficult. Sing through the song while your helper looks for the object, then use the item to take care of baby!
