Are you looking for a simple way to introduce The Priesthood is Restored (archives) in primary this month? Consider using this The Priesthood is Restored Video Story idea for a fun way to incorporate technology and invite the Spirit during singing time.
In this post, I’ll share 3 different videos about the priesthood that stand out to me as perfect candidates for this activity. Let’s jump in and I’ll share them with you!

The Priesthood is Restored Video Story
If you’ve never shared a video in singing time before, I wouldn’t shy away from it! Sharing a spiritual video can be a great way to help your primary children better understand the message of the song.
I typically like to keep videos on the shorter end, especially if you have lots of wiggly primary children. I also like to give the children a question or something to listen for in the video to help them stay focused and engaged during the video.
As you teach this song in primary, try sharing one of these videos to help your primary children connect spiritually (more spiritual connection ideas) with the song and gain a deeper understanding of the priesthood.
As I spent some time exploring gospel videos about the priesthood, these 3 videos below stood out to me because they each include unique analogies about the priesthood, from rockets and cars, to castle gates.
In preparation for this activity, I recommend double-checking your technology. If your ward library has a TV available, that can be a great option for larger primaries. You can also simply show a video on a laptop or IPad. Either way, I always like to do a quick test-run beforehand to make sure everything runs smoothly.
At the beginning of singing time, simply explain that you’ll be sharing a short video. Listen carefully to the story and notice how you feel during the video.
After the video, ask a volunteer to retell the story in their own words. What was this story about? Can anyone guess what our primary song is about? That’s right! We’ll be singing about the priesthood.
This is a great time to transition into teaching the song! Be sure to grab a copy of our The Priesthood is Restored flip chart for this song that includes both words and pictures to help you remember the lyrics!
Conclude with your testimony of the priesthood after singing through the song a few times. Since this song is short, your primary kids will likely learn it in a flash! This is the perfect opportunity to spend some extra time focusing on the message.

Video Option #1: Where Are the Keys?
I love the car analogy shared in this Where are the Keys video! Primary children will enjoy this story about a father who loses his car keys after a fun day of skiing with his family.
This short video teaches that just like we need car keys to drive home, we need the priesthood keys to access ordinances and covenants needed to return to Heavenly Father’s presence.
Video Option #2: How the Priesthood Works
This video narrated by Elder Dale G. Renlund contains another great analogy about the Priesthood! In this video, Elder Renlund compares the Priesthood to a rocket! Your primary children will love listening to this neat video about rockets, space, and the priesthood!
Video Option #3: The Castle and the Keys – Latter Day Kids
This animated video about the Priesthood provides another analogy that is perfect for primary children! This video is a little bit longer than the previous 2 videos and runs about 5 minutes. However, it’s definitely a good choice if you have lots of younger primary kiddos!

Extension Activities:
- For another fun way to incorporate technology, practice together using this The Priesthood is Restored sing along video! Follow along with the lyrics and sing with me!
- Watch one of these videos silently while the pianist plays the song in the background! If you’d like to listen to the words, play the song through a speaker. Since the song is pretty short, you’ll likely have to play through it a few times during the video. See if the kids can recall what was happening in the video? How does this story relate to our song?
- Share a few scriptures about the priesthood to further teach this doctrine in singing time. Passages from Doctrine & Covenants section 107 are a great place to start!
- Read this The Priesthood is Restored article included in the March 2025 issue of the Friend. This article tells the story of the priesthood being given to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery.
