The Priesthood is Restored Prophet’s Words
I am so grateful for a living prophet who gives us direction and guidance from Heavenly Father. President Nelson recently spoke about the priesthood power in His April 2024 General Conference address, “Rejoice in the Gift of Priesthood Keys.”
For this spiritual connection activity, we’ll be using quotes from this talk to help our primary children deepen their understanding of the meaning of this song about the priesthood.
To set up this activity, start with 4 large slips of paper. On one side of the paper, write a phrase from the song. On the backside of the paper write a quote from President Nelson about the Priesthood. I’ve created a printable version to save you some prep time!
Before introducing this activity, sing through The Priesthood is Restored (flip chart here) for a brief review.
Then, ask the children: “What is the Priesthood?” What does it mean for something to be “restored?” Invite a few children to share their answers.
Our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson taught us about the Priesthood in General Conference. Let’s see what he said.
Post all 4 phrase on the board with the lyrics facing out. Choose a volunteer to come pick one phrase from the song. Have them turn over the page and read the quote on the back. Your younger primary children may need some help.
What does this teach us about the Priesthood? Briefly discuss the quote, and then sing through the song before choosing another quote. By the end, you’ll have all 4 cards turned over to show the prophet quotes.
Conclude with your testimony of the Priesthood. As President Russell M. Nelson said, “Let us rejoice that priesthood keys are once again on the earth!”

Extension Activities:
- Mix up the song phrases on the board. Which phrase comes first in the song? Read the quote on the back of the page, then look for the next phrase as you arrange them in the correct order.
- Hide the Prophet Quotes around the room! Look for each missing phrase as you sing. Then, read each quote aloud once you have found them all.
- Split the quotes between classes. Have each class read their assigned quotes and share what they learned with the group. Then, have each class sing their assigned song phrases for a fun “popcorn” singing game!
- Look for additional quotes about the Priesthood to read together. There are so many great talks to choose from, including Elder Dale G. Renlund’s talk entitled, “The Priesthood and the Savior’s Atoning Power.”
