Sing Like an Animal Song Review

Do you want a fun and easy way to review any song of your choice? I love to use a variety of ways to sing cards to help make it fun and easy to add tons of singing repetition. In fact, I have a whole post with more than 110 Different Ways to Sing a Song!! You won’t want to miss that post.

To go along with that fun, instead try this Sing Like an Animal Song Review! You’ll use themed ways to sing actions that coordinate with a variety of different animals that the Primary kids will have so much fun with during Singing Time.

I plan to use this activity as one of my Build an Ark teaching ideas (archives). It’s the perfect activity to pair with this song, or use it with any song of your choice.

Sing Like an Animal Song Review

Sing through your song of choice once, before introducing this activity. This is a great way to refresh the lyrics and transition from another activity or into singing time before adding an activity.

I plan to use this activity while teaching Build an Ark! It will be so fun to sing like animals while singing a song all about Noah’s ark! You can start with my Build an Ark Flip Chart to help you introduce this song once before beginning the sing like an animal activity.

Ask the children, what was Noah supposed to bring on the ark with him? (Animals!) That’s right, he had to bring 2 of each animal type. Let’s sing like animals today!

Pick any of the animals sets or include all of the animal cards if you prefer.

Invite a child to come up front and pick one of the animals and ways to sing cards. You can post them up on the board and let them see all the options or shuffle and mix them upside down and choose one at random.

Demonstrate or explain the sing like an animal action you’ll perform. You can use the master list of suggestions or adapt each way to sing to fit your Primary.

Extension Activities:

• Assign 6 different ways to sing cards to a number to correspond with a 6-side dice or use a dice with paper slots and simply slip your ways to sing cards inside. Roll to select which way to sing card to use next.
• Have a child name their favorite animal! There are 60 different animals included, so many will already be featured here. If their animal isn’t included, come up with a new fun way to sing idea to match the animal on the spot or let the child pick their favorite way to sing.

• Play a game of match! Pick out 5-8 animals and print them out in pairs. Scramble them up and but them all over the board. Invite a helper to come up front and flip over any two cards. When you find a match – sing through your song with that way to sing! If there was no match, both cards get flipped back down and another helper can come up front to look for a match.
• Create a zoo in your Primary room! Put a different animal way to sing card around the room in different corners or walls of your room. Select ways to sing cards that can pair well together and don’t need any specific help or instructions. You can recruit your teachers to help lead each of the animal actions in their specific corner. Then, invite all the children to pick a corner. Everyone sings through the song while following the way to sing action of their animal. What a zoo! You can walk around the room between songs in order or let them pick their choice of animal each rotation.
