Have you picked out Christmas songs for Primary yet? This is one I haven’t done before, so I was excited to play with it when my friend suggested it!
I created a The Nativity Song Flip Chart to use in Primary and leading when conducting this song, since chances are you won’t have a lot of time to learn the song.
Since we only had *2* Sunday’s to learn The Nativity Song, I opted to also made some fun, large, sing-along posters! You can see my The Nativity Song Sing-Along posters over here.

You may also love this The Nativity Song nativity skit that is flexible to include just the Primary or your whole ward, depending on your needs! It uses nativity songs to build a nativity scene while telling the nativity story for a ward Christmas party!
It will be like when the angels sing as you include a variety of different groups within your ward to sing the story of Jesus Christ birth as a brand new baby boy!
The Nativity Song Flip Chart
As a Primary music leader, I didn’t like endless pages which made actually flipping through the flip chart really difficult and cumbersome. So, I set out to make my own.
Since I use HP’s Instant Ink service, which lets you print full color prints for no extra fee, I love including big lifestyle images whenever possible! Plus, fun colors to highlight keywords.
I love having just ONE page per verse, whenever possible. It cuts down on unnecessary flipping, which is difficult and cumbersome! This post is super helpful to see how I use flip charts with all the rest of my tips and tricks!

The Nativity Song Lyrics
This song is published in the Children’s Songbook Page #52
You can find The Nativity Song sheet music here.
Verse 1:
This is the season beloved of the year.
Sing a rhyme; Christmastime soon will be here.
Tell the true story of Jesus’ birth,
When, as a baby, he came to the earth.
Verse 2:
This is the new star, shining so bright,
Lighting the world on that first Christmas night.
This is the angel proclaiming the birth,
Singing “Hosanna!” and “Peace on the earth!”
Verse 3:
This is the stable, shelter so bare;
Cattle and oxen first welcomed him there.
This is the manger, sweet hay for a bed,
Waiting for Jesus to cradle his head.
Verse 4:
These are the shepherds, humble and mild,
Hast’ning to worship the heavenly child.
These are the wise men who followed the star
Frankincense, gold, and myrrh brought from afar.
Verse 5:
See the sweet mother, Mary so fair,
Joseph, who guided the donkey with care.
See the dear baby of Bethlehem,
Little Lord Jesus, the Savior of men.

Oh my!!! LOL, updated all the files!
Hi there,
Thank you for this flip chart. I have printed it and we are going to sing it at our Ward Christmas party next week.
I just wanted to point out a small error on the first page. It should read “when, as a baby, he came to THE earth”.
Thank you!! Fixed and updated the files with the correct version.
