When We’re Helping Dropped Pictures
Have you ever intentionally embarrassed yourself a little bit for the sake of a good primary activity? We’ve all been there. In this activity, clumsiness can go a long way to create a fun review activity for your primary kids!
This activity requires very little prep, so it’s a great go-to for a busy week! All you’ll need for this activity is a set of pictures to go with the song. The flip chart for this song includes both pictures and lyrics, making it a great choice for this activity!
I’ve also created a printable that includes a picture and lyrics for each line of the song. Use these to shake things up a bit!
Before primary, mix up the pages of the flip chart. At the beginning of singing time, pull out the pages from your bag and *accidentally* drop them on the floor. This can be as silly or dramatic as you want!
Oh no! All the pages for our song are out of order! Who can be a big helper and help me pick up these pages?
I love how willing kids are to help! Once you have all the pages back on the table, see if they can help you put the song back in order. Sing the song first, then have the kids work together to put the lyrics in order.
There are a few different ways to do this! You could find the first page of the song, sing through it, then see if the kids know what comes next. Look for the next page!
For another way to rearrange the pages, have the kids pass the pages to you as they pick them up. Tape the pages to the board (in the wrong order). Are you ready to sing? What’s wrong?
Try singing through the song to help you put the pages in the right order. Hold a page up at random. Does this page come at the beginning, middle, or end of the song? Continue in this manner until you have the correct order!
You can also have your primary kids rearrange themselves physically to put the song in order! As the kids come to pick up your dropped pictures, have each child stand at the front of the room and hold their page out for everyone to see. Have them switch places until the song is in the correct order!
Review the song a few more times before the end of primary. Thank the kids for helping you and ask them how they feel when they help others.

Extension Activities:
- Slowly remove the pages throughout primary to see if the kids can sing the song memorized. Each time you sing through the song, remove one page and have the child holding the page sit down.
- Pass out a few of the mixed pages to each class. Have each class sing the lyrics when it’s their turn!
- Post the pictures on the board in mixed up order. Each time you sing through the song, have a child come to the front and place one of the pages in the correct order. Continue until the lyrics are in the correct order.
