Time to get artsy in this An Angel Came to Joseph Smith Show & Sing fun singing time idea!
I’ll be pulling out the crayons and letting the kids color in one verse from the song An Angel Came to Joseph Smith. This could be a fun way to introduce one of the verses or use all 3 pages (verse 1, 2, and 4) to review the song.

An Angel Came to Joseph Smith Show & Sing
Start by deciding how you want to incorporate this activity. It could be for introducing a new verse, helping the children to remember which verse is which, or reviewing the whole song.
Depending on how you’ll use the activity you can print one page or all 3 pages. You can print a single copy or a copy for every kid in primary. It’s completely up to you.
I’ll be using this color the song game to review the 3 verse of the song we are learning for the program. I’ll print out one page for each of the children in Primary and give each child one of the three verse pages.
In Junior primary, each class will have a matching picture.
In Senior primary, the class will have a mix from the three pages.
We’ll sing all the verses together while the kids color their An Angel Came to Joseph Smith coloring page. When everyone (or most of the room) has finished coloring we’ll do a “Show + Sing”.
Then in Junior Primary, I’ll have everyone who colored the 1st verse come up front and sing with me the 1st verse. We’ll repeat with the 2nd and 4th verses until everyone has had a turn to come up.
In Senior Primary, I’ll have the kids stay where they are, but sing ONLY the verse they colored as we make our way through singing all 3 verses. We’ll then do a challenge round where they will sing the two verses they didn’t color (and skip singing the verse of the coloring page they colored).
All of the kids can take their coloring page home and I’ll challenge them to share it with their family Sunday evening or for Family Home Evening this week.
You can stick to a single verse and have the library print copies for you – or let the class work together on a coloring page to cut back on printing, if needed.
