Anytime Anywhere ASL Signs
Sing through Anytime, Anywhere (flip chart) once, before introducing this activity.
Ask the children what words do we repeat a couple of different times in this song? Did you hear them? Let’s sing through it again and see if you can find them.
Sing through the song, and have the children raise their hands when they think they know the answer! (Anytime, Anywhere). You’re right! Let me teach you how to sign those two words in American Sign Language.
Teach the first two signs following this guide to help:
- Anytime: Start with your thumb pointing up and twist your wrist in “C” shape. Then, tap your pointer finger on your wrist.
- Anywhere: Start with your thumb pointing up and twist your wrist in “C” shape. Then, point your pointer finger up and wiggle it right to left.
Practice these two signs together a couple of times. Do they notice anything about these signs that they have in common? You’re right! They both start with the same motion. That’s because that first part of the sign represents the first half of each word – “any!”
Sing through the song and sign as you sing “anytime, anywhere.”
Extension Activities:
- If this is your first time singing this song, you can instead teach the song line by line. Add in each ASL sign as you work your way through the verse in order instead.
- Skip singing the words you have learned signs for. Simply sign instead!
