This game is one that will excite even the Senior Primary boys! Just bring in a couple dozen disposable cups and they’ll be engaged in trying to learn this fun and challenging pattern!

The cup pattern for We’ll Bring the World His Truth is best for Senior Primary, as it is a little tricky, but you could adapt and simplify to try it in Junior Primary as well.

We’ll Bring the World
His Truth Cup Pattern

I did this activity already earlier this year with my Senior Primary and it was so fun! There were a couple of boys in the back who thought it was funny to try to break the cups, so they got to come up front and be my helpers. Keep that in mind, that you might ask a leader to help the back row stay on tasks.

Despite the couple of boys in the back (my son included) everyone had a really fun time trying to master this pattern! It was fun to see who picked up on the pattern right away.

To get started we sang through the song twice. The first time as an introduction to see how well they knew the song. Then, I asked them to sing it for me one more time to show me they were ready for a really fun activity I had planned.

After the two times through, I then demonstrated the cup pattern. I went really, really slow at first – naming the steps. Then picked up the pace and sang it along with a part of the verse.

I posted the pattern up on the whiteboard and helped them see how it related, so they could see the steps as a reminder if they needed the help.

Finally, I passed out the cups (with helpers) and then asked the kids to try out the pattern in slow motion with me first. After about a minute of practice, I asked if they were ready to try it with the music? They were ready!

We had a great time singing through the song a few times, practicing the cup pattern. After the first time through, I’d ask if anyone knew the pattern and wanted to come up and demonstrate.

I don’t ask for volunteers – I just tell anyone that knows the pattern and that wants to come up to join me, and wave kids up that are a little unsure.

This made the kids so willing and eager to sing through the song a few times through. After about 4 times of practice, I asked if they had ideas to mix up the pattern. My group said to try doing it backwards! Pick up one of the ideas from your Primary kids and run with it, even if it’s not a perfect fit it’s so fun to try their ideas!

Then, I had the kids pass their cups to the classmate on the inside of the row and those kids brought the cups back up to me to use again on another activity.

You can get a 50-ct pack on Amazon for under $10 – or pick out one of the larger packs which is even cheaper per cup. This AmazonBasic pack gives you 240 for about $16, plus they’re this pretty blue color!

I use plastic cups a couple times a year as a singing time prop, so they’re a great investment for me. Some will break from use, but most survive and I keep them aside with the rest of my supplies for future activities.
