Easter Hosanna Partner Rhythm Pattern:
For the verse, you’ll follow this pattern:
- Pat once with both hands straight down on your own lap.
- Move your hands 1 place to the right patting your left hand on your right leg and your right hand on the lap of the person beside you to your right. Pat twice.
- Return to center and pat on your own lap twice.
- Move your hands 1 place to the left, patting your left hand on the lap of the person to your left and and your right hand on your left leg. Pat twice.
- Return to center and pat on your own lap twice.
- Repeat – right twice, center twice, left twice, and end with one last pat in the center. Then you’ll restart the loop. Repeat 4 times.
- The sequences start on: The prophecies / When Jesus / As he came / The people
For the chorus, you’ll follow this pattern:
- Clap 4 times following the notes on “Ho-/s-/an-/na”
- Pat your own lap every other hand 7 times on “Bless-/ed/ be/ the/ name/ of/ the”
- Snap your fingers one time on each word “Most High God!”
Extension Activities:
- You can switch from snaps to stomps if you have a very young Primary as snaps can be hard for very young children. If you have a good mix of ages, you can let the little ones try – it’s good practice for manual dexterity!
- If you’d like to continue to keep it a partner pattern, you can clap across to a partner on the claps.
- Form a big circle and have everyone follow the pattern in one big circle!
- You can pat-pat then clap-clap across to a partner and repeat instead of pats if you prefer. Or pat / clap-clap / clap across x2 / clap-clap / pat-pat continue!
- Pat following every other note for a fun challenge to the rhythm!
