Have I Done Any Good Serve & Sing
I hope you love this people interactions activity as much as I do! The idea behind this activity is to start with a small object. This could be as simple as a small piece of candy or a small toy. Think Dollar Tree for this one. Keep it super simple!
You can make it even simpler by passing around our printable SMILE! I’ve created simple printable compliment cards and a large “SMILE” card to pass around during singing time. You can tape a simple treat onto the cards or just share kind words!
Prepare for this service game by printing and cutting out the printable compliment cards or the smiley face card.
Then, while the group is singing, have a child share the object with someone else. Continue passing around the object to see how a small act of service can bless many people!
I recommend printing out enough compliment cards so that every child in your primary can take one home! What a great way to share love in primary. I even laminated my cards so that they can last a little longer.
At the beginning of singing time, sing through the song once to review (flipchart here).
This song teaches us to serve and share with one another! Give the object or large “SMILE” card to one child in the room. Whisper to them to pass along the gift to another child when they hear the word, “I” in the song!
Go ahead and begin singing. When you sing “I” have the child pass the gift to someone else and whisper the instructions to them.
The word, “I” comes up pretty quickly in the song, so try to be patient and continue singing as the item is passed around the room. This is a great way to get in lots of repetition!
At the end of singing time, ask the children to share how they felt when they received the special “gift.” Share your testimony of the blessings that come when we cheerfully serve others.
Then, pass out the remaining compliment cards or send each of the children home with a small prize to help them remember the message.

Extension Activities:
- Count the total number of children in the room before you begin the activity. Give the first child the full stack of compliment cards. Have the child keep one card for themselves and give the rest of the stack to another child. This way, everyone will have a card by the end. Be sure to continue singing until everyone gets a compliment!
- Start with one child holding the object or card. Pass around the object until the music stops! When the music stops, ask the child holding the object to share something they can do to serve others!
- Make it a mini-service project! Have the children draw pictures or write cards for someone in the ward while you sing. Collect all the cards and deliver them as a special surprise!
- Have one child leave the room while the rest of the group hides an object. Have the child return to look for the item using singing clues! Sing louder as they get closer, and sing quieter when they are far away!
