Intro:

Sing I Know That My Redeemer Lives (flip chart here) once, before bringing out the chimes.

Sing through the song and demonstrate when the chimes will be played. You can lay the chimes down on the holders to make it easier to play.

Ask the children, what did you notice? When did I play the chimes? What did we sing about whenever I rang the chimes? (Redemer lives / He lives)

You got it! When we sing that the Savior lives, we’ll ring our chimes!

Using Chimes with the Kids:

You will need 6-7 kids to help you play the chimes. In a smaller Primary you can combine a couple of chime parts such as #9 and #14 or #5 and #17.

Point to the chime chart with the timing of the music to help those participants to know when it’s their turn to ding their pipe chime!

Each child will hold one chime holding by the string at the top and being careful not to touch the chime. The children will watch for their specific number and strike the chime with one swift tap.

Everyone sings along with the song and pick new helpers after each time through the song until everyone gets a chance to chime the chimes!

Extension Activities:

  • Quickly stand and sit when you sing “He lives” and sing out the line out loud!
  • Have all the other kids clap at the same time the chimes ring to include more kids.
  • Sing through the song again while you ring the chimes and ask the children to count how many times you sing the phrases! This is great for directed listening.
