My Heavenly Father Loves Me Picture Clues
Scatter all the pictures up on the board. Ask the children to guess what song they think you will be singing together.
If they need a hint, you can ask them what are some of the things they see in the pictures and reply to their answers with a couple words from the lyrics – like if they say bird you might say “song of a bird” or flowers you might reply “velvet rose” to see if that helps them figure out the song.
Or, play a few notes from the beginning of the song until they can guess the song.
Invite 2-3 children to come up front and try to arrange the pictures in the correct order while everyone sings the song. They likely won’t finish it the first time through, but they might! If they do, let another child come up and scramble up the pictures, then let new helpers take a turn to get the pictures in order.
Have the children pick ONE keyword to write below each of the pictures up on the board with a clue from the picture that helps them remember that Heavenly Father loves them.

Extension Activities:
- Let a child come up front and pick one of the picture clue cards and hold it up for everyone to see. Ask them what they see in the picture. What do they notice? What line of the song might this picture represent? How does this picture help us know that Heavenly Father loves us? Sing through that line of the song together or from the beginning all the way up to that line of the song. Then, add it to the board and pick another picture to discuss!
- Hide the pictures around the room and have the children find a picture, then try to put it in the right sequence. The first one can go approximately where it might in order on the board and the rest will fill in either before or after the previous pictures.
- Show the picture and give some clues until the children can sing back the line of the song to you that it belongs to! This option is perfect to review the lyrics in a unique way. You could hum the melody, fill in a keyword or two they might need help with, or point out specific elements they are missing from their sing along. Older kiddos will love the challenge to sing the line without your help!
- Use the smaller pictures and unscramble and sort out the pictures in small groups. Just mix up the pictures and put them inside an envelope and have the individual groups work together while you sing through the song 2-3 times until all the groups have all the pictures in the correct order. Then, invite the groups to flip over a picture of their choice. They will skip singing that line and it will create a fun popcorn effect around the room. Now, add a second, then a third to add in lots of singing repetition.
