Sports Day Singing Time Song Review
Put the sports cards up on the board. Pick out your choice of single song or a mix of songs to sing this week.
Ask the children if they likes sports – have them raise their hands! Great, we’re going to have so much fun today with some sports activities during Singing Time!
Invite a child to come up front and pick their favorite sport from the board. You can also ask them why they love that sport if you’re a newer Primary or music leader to help everyone get to know each other better.
When the sport is selected, quickly explain the coordinating way to sing actions.
Sing your song with the fun varied sports themed actions, then pick a new sport!
Sports Day Ways to Sing Ideas
- Basketball – Dribble: Pat Lap on Beat
- Football – Touchdown: Run in Place
- Soccer – Pass: Soccer Ball Pass
- Volleyball – Block: Jump on Keyword
Extension Activities:
- You can award “point” on the board for how well the Primary did on each of the different challenges. The points don’t have to mean anything, they can simply encourage participation. You’ll be amazed how well the boys respond to earning points, even if they don’t equate to anything!
- If you want to sing a mix of different songs, you can simply write the song title on the back of your sports image. Let the child pick their favorite sport, reveal the song, then sing through that song.
- You can plan mini adapted versions of each of the sports, if you are up for a little extra chaos.
