When He Comes Again Silent Video

This When He Comes Again Silent Video lesson will help to invite the Holy Ghost into singing time and help the children understand the importance of the Savior’s Second Coming.

When He Comes Again is one of my all-time favorite primary songs. I have many fond memories of learning this song in primary and singing it with my family. There is such a special spirit as you sing this song about Christ’s Second Coming.

A silent video is a great way to introduce a new song in primary. Since this song is so special to me, I want to introduce it with a spiritual connection activity.

When He Comes Again Silent Video

For this activity, I want to keep it pretty simple so that the Holy Ghost can teach the children about Jesus. If you aren’t familiar with our silent video activities, these lessons are designed to invite the Spirit into singing time and help the children become familiar with the song before teaching it.

I’ll be sharing a video with the sound turned off. This seems a little silly, but it can be a special experience for the children when paired with a simple arrangement of the song.

A few weeks before this activity, ask your primary pianist if she would be willing to learn a simple arrangement of When He Comes Again. You could also invite someone from your ward who plays an instrument to perform in singing time.

As you watch the silent video, the pianist can play the song in the background. This way, the kids can get familiar with the melody of the song and might even sing along if they already know it.

I spent some time looking for some beautiful and simply piano arrangements of this song, and I want to share my favorite with you here! After looking through some beautiful videos of Christ, here are my top 3 suggestions for silent videos to share for this activity! Most of these videos are of Christ’s resurrection and show His love for His brothers and sisters.

After you share these videos, I encourage you to share brief testimony of Jesus Christ. Many things about primary may be forgotten, but children will remember the love and Spirit they feel during singing time.

1. Video: Jesus is Resurrected

This 4-minute video makes for a beautiful choice for the silent video activity. Although there is dialogue in this video, the Spirit can be felt with the sound off as you listen to an arrangement of When He Comes Again.

2. Book of Mormon Videos: Jesus Christ Appears

Oh my goodness, I just about bawled when I saw a clip from this video in General Conference 2022! This video comes from the Book of Mormon Videos covering 3 Nephi 8-11.

This video is pretty long (16 minutes), but the part I would use for this activity is only about 3 minutes long. For this activity, start the video from about 11:50 to the end. So beautiful!

2 Additional Videos:

Here are some additional videos you might choose to share for this activity. These videos are special arrangements of this beautiful primary song. The videos range from acoustic guitar to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

1. When He Comes Again Mormon Guitar

I really love the Mormon Guitar page on Youtube. There are so many beautiful acoustic arrangements of primary songs and hymns that you can share with your primary children. This version is especially beautiful because it gives you the opportunity to reflect on the words and message of the song.

2. When He Comes Again – Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square

This beautiful rendition of When He Comes Again was performed by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square during General Conference. I hope you enjoy listening to this version!

Extension Ideas:

  • After watching the silent video, teach the kids the words to the song. Then, have them sing along with this When He Comes Again Sing Along Video.
  • If using as a review activity, have the children watch the video then share their impressions in small groups. Have teachers share their testimonies as well.
  • Create small group choirs! Have groups be responsible for singing different sections of the song. As you sing along with the piano accompaniment or music videos, have the children take turns singing their assigned parts.
