Today, I’ve got a fun When I Am Baptized Rhythm Sticks review activity.
With this song being one the kids know from the year before, it lets us have a lot of fun playing games and reviewing the message and words as we get ready for the program this year.

With this activity, I’ll start them out as usual reviewing it once before we start an activity, then demonstrating the pattern, before passing out the rhythm sticks and letting them try out the pattern.

You’ll want a set (or probably 2) of rhythm sticks. Keep in mind that for most activities the kids will have 2 rhythm sticks each.
I’m all for getting enough for just half the Primary, though. Taking turns and switching with a partner let’s us practice the song twice as much, without it feeling like a chore!

Watch as I share the pattern. Keep in mind, I had NOT practiced this at all, just had my cheat sheet up and went for it. Practice a few times, and you’ll have it down good enough to teach!

When I Am Baptized Rhythm Sticks Printable Singing Time Lesson Plan
I’ve included a printable version with 2 different patterns – a simpler pattern and a more challenging option for Senior Primary below. It’ll be a great resource to display up on the white board to help give your visual learners a reference point while teaching the pattern.
You can also use the pattern printable as a crack the code. What do you think this action might be? Then, swap out each symbol for a different action that fits the melody!
