Fill in the blank activities are some of my favorites! They are a great way to test how well your primary kids know the song lyrics. They can be modified for younger primary kids or adapted to be more challenging for senior primary!

Choose the Right Around the World
It’s time for a song quiz! Who thinks they know ALL the words to Choose the Right? (Look for any raised hands). Let’s review the song first, and then we’ll test your knowledge of the song!
This activity works great for any of the verses. If you want to just focus on the first verse, sing through the verse and chorus. If you have already learned the entire song, sing through all 3 verses at the beginning of primary!
I’ve created a printable lesson plan included later in this post with word strips for each line of the first verse and chorus. To make this activity a little easier, keep the lyrics in order so that you can quickly move through the song.
The rules for this game are simple! I’m going to say a line of the song, and you will have to finish the line. Who wants to try? Choose volunteers to come up to the front of the room. Arrange the kids in a line.
Bring out the printable pages with blanks in each line. If you want to start simple, start with the first line. As one child guesses the word, move on to the next child. If the first child guesses incorrectly, allow them to guess again. If they are still unsure, pass the question to the next person in line.
For an extra challenge, ask the questions out of order! It might be a line from the second or third verse, or it could be a line from the beginning or end of the chorus!
As you rotate through, see if any other children want to join the game! If not, have those watching be your singers! Sing through the song a few times throughout the game or to give mini hints to your guessers.

Extension Activities:
- Have an elimination round! Quickly go through each line. If the line is filled in incorrectly, the child is eliminated. See who is the last one standing! This version will likely work best with older children.
- Cut out each line and tape them randomly to the board. As you sing, have children come up and grab the lines that they think they can answer! When the song is over, see if they are correct!
- Assign each class one verse of the song. Have them work together to fill in the blanks while you sing!
- Make it into a game show! Assign teams or see if the teachers can beat the kids! See this fun Are You Smarter than Primary activity for a good example of this!
