Mother Dear Sing to Mom
Sing through Mother Dear with this flip chart or your Mother’s Day song of choice (see our master song list!) once before getting started with this activity.
Post the 4 moms on the board and tell the children you are going to sing to mom today! Let’s make her so proud of how well we can sing! Sing through the moms once through your song.

That was so good, let’s see if we can make mom cry! Sing through the song again and this time, bring out a water bottle. Spray your mom to make her cry, using any of the 3 methods below.
Can we make all of the moms cry? Continue to sing as you let your best singer get to come up to spray your mom with a spray bottle and make her cry! Or use one of the moms for each verse of your song.
For more variety, you can mix in the ways to sing actions or invite the children to color in the pictures of mom.

3 Ways to Make Mom Cry: For all three options, print on cardstock and laminate.
- Make her Makeup Run – Draw a line of makeup using you watercolor black paint or a washable black marker. You could also try a washable black eyeliner. Spray a water bottle at the front of the picture to make the makeup run.

- Spray Tears – Use a hole punch or razor blade to cut a circle in your mom’s eyes. Then laminate. Cut another hole slightly smaller so the lamination protects the picture. Keep in mind, there is still a chance the water will reach your laminated paper. Spray from behind the picture outward towards the children.
- Simple Tears – You can also simply spray a water bottle to the front of your picture to represent tears that will roll down her cheeks.

4 Ways to Sing to Mom – Sing through your song with these four themed ways to sing.
- Bend Side to Side – Hold your hands on your hips and bend at the hips right and left with one deep bend to the right on the first line of the song, and back to the center. Then bend to the left on the next line of the song, then back to the center.
- Pat Each Word – Pat both hands on your lap as you sing each new word.

- Don’t Blink! – Keep your eyes open as long as you can without blinking! Can you make it through the whole song without blinking?
- Sprinkle Singing – Tell the children to sing every 2nd, 3rd, or 4th word – it’s their choice! Sing sporadic words and everyone will all come together with a mix of sprinkle singing that brings the song together in a new way! Tell the children to pick different words to sing each time for a new sprinkle effect each time!
